Ambulance Victoria fees

In Victoria, you have to pay for ambulance services. Ambulance Victoria fees are decided by the Department of Health. If you don’t have a membership, concession, or other coverage, you’ll need to pay for the care you get. Sometimes, another party might cover the cost of ambulance treatment and transport.

Some people are covered for the cost of ambulance treatment and transport services.

Hardship assistance

If you receive an invoice for Ambulance Services and find it difficult to pay we can help if you need hardship assistance.

Treatment without transport invoices

Ambulance Victoria charges a fee for 'treatment without transport', which applies when paramedics provide medical assessment, care, or advice at the scene, but do not transport the patient to hospital.

  • If you have received a bill and believe:
    At the time, you did not know an ambulance was being called and could not have authorised treatment then you can request a billing review by calling 1800 990 029.
  • You were one of multiple patients treated by the same ambulance crew, then you can request a billing review by calling 1800 990 029.
