Ambulance Victoria is aware of guards of honour that regrettably took place during a challenging time for all Victorians.
These events should not have happened, and we regret the impact of these historic events on our people and the broader community.
In 2022, these matters were reported to the Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission (IBAC). The matters were referred back to Ambulance Victoria and an independent, external investigation was launched as a result. That investigation has concluded.
Members of the executive team involved in organising these events are no longer at Ambulance Victoria and the community can have confidence that events like this will never happen again.
These actions do not reflect the values of our current leadership team nor our highly skilled paramedics and first responders who do a remarkable job providing care to their communities, each and every day.
This issue was raised as a submission as part of the Legislative Council Legal and Social Issues Committee Inquiry and will be dealt with as part of that process. Ambulance Victoria continues to engage with the Committee with a genuine desire to improve our workplace and the services we provide.
