North Melbourne has been named Ambulance Victoria’s (AV) Metropolitan 2 Region Team of the Year, recognised for exceptional clinical performance and strong team culture at annual staff recognition awards.

The branch earned the Team of the Year title thanks to exemplary clinical performance, significant engagement with the local community and organisations, and leading culture within the team.

North Melbourne Team Manager Shelly Tennant said the award was a surprise and a thrill.

“The North Melbourne team works so hard every day and love to be busy and challenged. They are constantly learning and striving to improve,” she said.

“I’m proud of them all as individuals, but we only succeed because we work so well together. That has come after years of building a positive and supportive culture where we lift each other up.

“When we work well as a team, it is reflected in the care we show our patients and our community.”

North Melbourne is one of AV’s busiest branches, with 40 paramedics responding to about one thousand cases each month.

The Team of the Year award recognises branches whose paramedics and first responders consistently deliver outstanding emergency care, engage positively with their community, create an inclusive workplace and demonstrate AV’s values.

Acting Metropolitan 2 Regional Director Andy Roughton said the award was well deserved recognition for the team.

“Congratulations to everyone at the North Melbourne branch for their consistent effort to provide best care to patients and create a culture to be admired within the team,” he said.

The awards also recognised paramedics, first responders and corporate employees for career milestones, safe driving achievements, and progression to Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) paramedic levels.
