Ambulance Victoria (AV) has officially opened the doors of the new Maidstone Ambulance Branch to service the growing communities in Maribyrnong and beyond.
AV Acting Executive Director Regional Operations Michael Georgiou today joined the Minister for Ambulance Services Mary-Anne Thomas MP and the Member for Footscray Katie Hall MP to open the new multi-million-dollar facility on Hampstead Road.
The new 24-hour ambulance branch includes a four-bay ambulance garage, four rest and recline areas, training facilities, a fully equipped kitchen, and improved security and car parking.
“This is a great milestone for our dedicated paramedics in Maribyrnong,” Mr Georgiou said.
“Our paramedics deserve the very best, and this branch delivers exactly that. These are fantastic facilities that paramedics in Maribyrnong well and truly deserve.
“It’s a big win for our paramedics and a big win for the community too. It’s important we grow to meet the needs of the western suburbs, now and into future, with this new branch coming on top of the new Manor Lakes Ambulance Branch that opened earlier this year.”
The custom-built Maidstone Ambulance Branch is home to around 30 paramedics from three ambulance units and has been operational since 11 November 2025.
Mr Georgiou said the branch provides state-of-the-art amenities and is in a prime location to help paramedics do what they do best – saving lives.
“It delivers easy access to main roads and major sites including schools, hospitals, shopping precincts and community facilities – and that means better health outcomes for patients,” Mr Georgiou said.
“It is most definitely a home that local paramedics can truly be proud of.
“Having a branch like this means we can train, learn new skills and provide locals with timely access to the very best pre-hospital emergency care.”
The branch was funded by the Victorian Government’s Ambulance Victoria Development Program and delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) in partnership with AV and builder, Building Engineering.
In 2024/25, AV was pleased to have opened seven new branches across Victoria including in Paynesville, Avoca, Yarram, Euroa, Morwell, Foster and Manor Lakes.
