Alternate care pathways campaign 202506

Hi, everyone.

It's winter, and as we all know, there is a lot of illness in the community.

We're seeing a huge increase in respiratory illnesses.

Please help us protect our service for those patients who are critically unwell.

One in five calls to Triple Zero Victoria do not need an ambulance.

A lot of people call an ambulance thinking they might get seen at hospital a lot sooner.

But that's not true.

If your case isn't urgent, you can expect a long wait.

If you need urgent health care and it's not life threatening, you have options.

Victorian Virtual Emergency Department is a free health care service online.

That can support you with any non-life-threatening concerns.

We have Urgent Care Clinics around the state that are free and available seven days a week.

Or you can get support from Nurse On Call, your local GP

Or your local pharmacist.

By seeking these alternate care pathways, you'll be protecting the community, but also you'll allow us to help those who require us the most.

What we're asking is for you to help us save our ambulances for those who need it the most.
