Every contribution will honour the values Tony championed throughout his life and support the causes that meant so much to him.
Tony Walker dedicated almost four decades to Ambulance Victoria. Beginning his career as a paramedic before progressing through a range of clinical, operational and executive leadership roles. He served as Chief Executive Officer from 2014 to 2022, leading the organisation through significant transformation and challenging periods.
Throughout his career, Tony was recognised for his compassionate leadership and unwavering commitment to improving patient care and supporting those who deliver it. His leadership helped shape ambulance services across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea through his role as Chair of the Council of Ambulance Authorities.
Tony championed initiatives that transformed patient care and strengthened support for paramedics and first responders, including the introduction of the GoodSAM program in Victoria and significant investment in the mental health and wellbeing of Ambulance Victoria staff.
While his professional achievements were extraordinary, Tony will be remembered most for the person he was. He led with humility, integrity and kindness. He earned the respect and admiration of colleagues across the organisation and the wider healthcare sector. Beyond his professional life, Tony was a devoted husband, father, mentor and friend whose warmth and generosity touched countless lives.
We extend our most sincere sympathies to Tony’s wife, Robyn, his children and all who knew and loved him.
We thank Tony for his extraordinary leadership, friendship and enduring legacy. Tony’s impact will continue to be felt through the people, profession and community he so graciously served.
