Ambulance Victoria (AV) is pleased to announce the appointment of experienced business leader and lawyer Demetrio Zema as a Director of the Ambulance Victoria Board, effective from 1 July 2026.
Mr Zema brings extensive expertise in law, strategic leadership and corporate governance, further strengthening the diverse skills and experience represented on the AV Board.
AV Board Chair Andrew Crisp AM APM welcomed Mr Zema's appointment.
"Demetrio brings a wealth of experience across governance, legal practice, executive leadership and business transformation," Mr Crisp said.
"His strategic insight and commitment to innovation will be a valuable addition to the Board as Ambulance Victoria continues to evolve to meet the needs of Victorian communities."
Mr Zema is the Director and Chief Executive Officer of Squared Group, the parent company behind Law Squared, Cubed by Law Squared and Tetra Claims. Since founding Law Squared in 2016, he has grown the business from a single practitioner legal practice into a multi jurisdictional organisation operating across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Throughout his career, Mr Zema has advised Chairs, Chief Executive Officers and General Counsel on governance, strategy and complex commercial matters. His work has been recognised through multiple industry awards and he is widely respected for his innovative approach to leadership and business transformation.
Beyond his executive leadership roles, Demetrio is deeply committed to community service. He is the former Chair of Expression Australia (Victorian Deaf Society) and the Royal Tasmanian Society of the Deaf and Blind. He currently serves as a Committee Member of the Zema Energy Studies Scholarship, and an Advisory Board Member of the Monash University Assistive Technology and Society Centre.
Mr Crisp said Mr Zema's professional and community experience would complement the Board's existing capabilities.
"Strong governance is critical to ensuring Ambulance Victoria continues to provide safe, high quality care for Victorians," he said.
"Demetrio's experience, together with the expertise of our existing Directors, will support the Board in guiding the organisation through future opportunities and challenges."
The Victorian Government has also confirmed the reappointment of Board Directors Dipak Sanghvi AM, Wenda Donaldson and Denise Heinjus.
Mr Crisp thanked the Directors for their ongoing contribution to Ambulance Victoria.
"Dipak, Wenda and Denise have each made a significant contribution to Ambulance Victoria through their service on the Board, and I am delighted they will continue in their roles," he said.
"Wenda's reappointment is particularly noteworthy and will see her become the longest serving current Director, reaching nine years of service on the Board."
The Ambulance Victoria Board is responsible for providing strategic direction and governance oversight, helping ensure the organisation continues to deliver high quality ambulance services to Victorian communities.
