Does everyone have to serve the qualifying period?

Not necessarily, there are a number of circumstances why you would not have to serve the qualifying period:

  1. If members renew on time each year
  2. When moving from dependant status to single member status
  3. If you are no longer a pensioner or Health Care cardholder and choose to rejoin Ambulance Victoria membership
  4. If you move back to Victoria to live
  5. When a family membership status becomes two single memberships.

If you apply for membership within 30 days of a change in your ambulance cover status, Ambulance Victoria will waive the qualifying period and you will be entitled to full benefits.

Any person added to a family membership that do not fit into the above categories, must serve the 60 day qualifying period for non-emergency transport and pre-existing illnesses.
