Graduate Paramedics
'I always expected there to be a difference between the classroom and on the road, but when you get out there and you have a real patient who is depending on you to make a difference, there is only so much training you can do for that. I know I will be better paramedic the more experience I get and I'm lucky that my Clinical Instructor and other paramedics are so open with their knowledge.' Fiona, Graduate Paramedic
When we first hire paramedics from a recognised university degree, they spend their first one to two years as graduate paramedic.
During this time they receive ongoing training and familiarisation in our procedures and protocols.
The fundamentals of their medical training are delivered by external university providers prior to employment however, with the help of a Clinical Instructor, graduate paramedics undertake further clinical study, on-road training and associated study days to assist with the transition from class room to ‘real world’.
