Auxiliaries have been a part of Ambulance Victoria since 1918, when the first Auxiliary was established in Maryborough.
AV Auxiliaries now number 73 and involve more than 820 volunteers who give generously of themselves to support and enhance the Ambulance Victoria within their communities.
AV Auxiliaries are generally associated with a branch or branches and work within the local community. Auxiliaries raise awareness of what to do during a medical emergency and are a community advocate for the services provided by Ambulance Victoria.
Fundraising is a major activity for AV Auxiliaries and auxiliaries involve their local communities in these efforts. Funds raised are used to purchase additional or advanced medical equipment.
AV Staff and community members can establish Auxiliaries at any time.
If you are interested in establishing an Auxiliary, contact the Community Funding Coordinator to discuss your plans, seek support and obtain a copy of the relevant documentation.
What is required:
If sufficient interest is received and all those involved are happy to proceed with developing an auxiliary, then a meeting should be held to address any questions and formalise the process.
The Community Funding Coordinator will attend the meeting and address those interested in establishing an auxiliary.
