Planned transports (medium acuity and high acuity) must be arranged by or on behalf of a medical practitioner for a person not experiencing a health crisis but whose condition warrants transport by an experienced and skilled ambulance attendant not necessarily an attendant with paramedic level skill.
Crewing consists of one qualified ambulance attendant and one qualified patient transport officer. All ambulance attendants are accredited in rapid response defibrillation and can cope with a range of clinical problems such as breathing difficulty, cardiac arrest, pain management and oxygen administration.
