Worker falls off second storey at building site

21 Oct 2009

Ambulance Victoria paramedics have treated a man after he fell two and a half metres at a building site in Armadale this morning.

Advanced life support paramedics from Caulfield and a single responder intensive care paramedic were called to the site at 7.20am.

Advanced life support paramedic Shane Martin said they arrived to find the man lying on the concrete.

‘He had been working on the first floor when his workmates heard a bang and found him unconscious on the concrete below,’ he said.

‘He was suffering suspected fractured shoulder blade and back and joint pain.

‘Given the potential for a spinal injury we fitted a neck brace to the man.

‘A drip was put in his arm and he was given pain relief and fluids to help stabilise his condition.

‘He was taken to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition,’ Mr Martin said.
