Woman struck by car- Carnegie

20 Oct 2009

Caulfield advanced life support paramedics and intensive care paramedics from the Alfred Hospital were called to the intersection of Truganini and Neerim Roads at 6.30 last night.

Intensive care paramedic Mark Sanders says it appeared the woman was hit, striking the windscreen of the car.

‘The car’s windscreen was damaged and the woman then landed on the road,’ he said.

‘The 25-year-old woman was quite agitated which often happens with people who have suffered head injuries.

‘We fitted a neck brace and strapped her head to a spine board to reduce further movement.

‘A drip was put in the woman’s arm and she was given some pain relief, which helped to settle her.

‘She was also given drugs to reduce nausea and some fluid through the drip, which helped stabilise her blood pressure.

‘The woman was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a serious condition,’ Mr Sanders said.
