Families and couples receive 100% cover Australia wide.Free ambulance transport, paramedic care & air ambulance.
MAS Chief Executive Officer Greg Sassella said that the announcement was the obvious next step for the development of ambulance care in Victoria.
'This is the next logical step in the progression of Victoria’s ambulance services, it now means that today’s funding boost and associated care can be shared among all Victorians by a single large service.' Mr Sassella said.
This announcement brings us in to line with every other ambulance service in Australia. The priorities for ambulance are the same whether you are in Melbourne or Mildura; providing excellent medical care to save lives.
A bigger service focusing on patient outcomes is better for all Victorians. It will mean the combined technology and clinical skills will be available to the benefit of all Victorians.
It also means now that we can organise services on a statewide basis and allocate ambulances, equipment and money to where it is most needed without the constraints of boundaries.
The details of this are yet to be decided and are the responsibility of government. We understand there will be a consultative process allowing for input prior to further details being released.
Mr Sassella said that one confirmed detail however is that there will be no redundancies for staff, thus ensuring the full benefit of a large size service with all current resources remain for the benefit of all Victorians.
