Three men injured in Fairfield collision

Three men have been treated by Ambulance Victoria paramedics after an early morning collision in Fairfield.

 

Advanced life support paramedics from Fairfield and Richmond, two intensive care ambulances and two paramedic team managers were called to the intersection of Grange Road and Christmas Street just after six o’clock.

 

Paramedic team manager Chester Fogarty says two cars were involved in the collision.

 

‘The cars were extensively damaged, with two seriously injured men trapped in one vehicle,’ he said.

 

‘Paramedics began treating them while the MFB worked to free the pair.

 

‘A 36 year-old man suffered serious chest injuries including a collapsed lung, which intensive care paramedics have tried to reinflate by inserting a large needle into his chest.

 

‘He also has significant facial injuries and abdominal injuries.

 

‘He was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition

 

A 21 year old man suffered fractures to his pelvis and leg, and chest injuries.

 

‘He was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition.

 

‘A 32 year-old man from the other car has some rib injuries, and has been taken to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition,’ Mr Fogarty said.
