One killed in horrific smash

00:00   26 Oct 2009

Ambulance Victoria paramedics have attended the scene of a horrific accident in Epping this afternoon.

Advanced life support paramedics from South Morang, intensive care paramedics from Bundoora, a paramedic team manager and a single responder intensive care paramedic were called to the corner of Cooper Street and Yale Drive at 5.55pm.

Team manager Stephen Moody said they arrived within ten minutes to a disastrous scene.

‘It appeared the semi trailer and two cars had collided, ripping one car in half and trapping the other under the truck,’ he said.

‘Unfortunately a woman aged in her 40s was dead on our arrival.

‘A woman aged in her 20s from the first car suffered serious head and chest injuries.

‘She was transported by intensive care paramedics to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.’
