Car and semi collide in freeway collision

5 Nov 2009

A semi trailer overturned in a collision on the Monash Freeway at Narre Warren this morning.

Advanced life support paramedics Noble Park, intensive care paramedics and a single responder intensive care paramedic were called to the freeway near Narre Warren North Road just after ten am.

Intensive care paramedic Russ Nelson says the truck and car collided and the truck came to rest on its roof.

‘The semi trailer carrying a load of sand apparently jacknifed and overturned in the collision,’ he said.

‘The 31 year old driver fractured his shoulder blade, and also has possibly fractured his ribs.

‘He was given some pain relief through an inhaler, then some stronger pain relief through a drip in his arm.

‘Intensive care paramedics also gave him fluid through the drip to help maintain his blood pressure, and some drugs to reduce nausea.

‘The man was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

‘A 38 year-old woman from a car involved in the collision suffered minor injuries, and was taken to Dandenong Hospital,’ Mr Nelson said.
