A cyclist and a 77 year-old woman pedestrian are in hospital after a collision on a bike path at Burnley this morning.
Two advanced life support ambulances were called to the cycle path at Loys Park just before nine o’clock.
Advanced life support paramedic Simon Ward said the woman and the 56-year-old man riding the bike were both injured.
‘The woman was walking when she and the cyclist collided and the woman fell to the ground, Mr Ward said.
‘She has some rib injuries and minor head injuries.
‘The cyclist came of his bike and landed on his shoulder, suffering a fractured collarbone.
‘Both were given pain relief drugs and taken to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition.
‘It’s important that cyclists and pedestrians are aware of each other, especially on the shared paths we have around Melbourne,' Mr Ward said.
