Woman dies at McCrae beach

14:00   24 Jan 2012

An elderly woman has died after being pulled from the water in McCrae this afternoon.

Advanced life support paramedics and intensive care paramedics from Rosebud were called to the corner of Point Nepean Road and Beverley Road at 2pm.

Advanced life support paramedic Travis Jones said they arrived within seven minutes to find bystanders performing CPR.

‘She’d been noticed to be face down in the water, unconscious so bystanders, including an off duty MFB officer, have pulled her onto the beach and called triple zero,’ he said.

‘The 81-year-old was in cardiac arrest so we took over resuscitation of her.

‘Unfortunately, after 30 minutes, despite best efforts she died at the scene.’
