Boy pulled from water in Seaford

21:30   19 Jan 2012

Seven paramedics spent more than an hour trying to revive a boy who was pulled from the water near Seaford pier tonight.

An advanced life support ambulance, intensive care ambulance, two single responder intensive care paramedics and an ambulance helicopter were called to Seaford just after seven o’clock.

Intensive care paramedic Gary Robertson said when the paramedics arrived eight minutes after the ‘000’ call the boy was in cardiac arrest.

‘A nurse was doing CPR on the boy who was on the beach about 300 metres from the pier,’ Mr Robertson said.

‘Paramedics continued CPR and gave the boy cardiac drugs in an attempt to restart his heart.

‘He was loaded into the ambulance helicopter and CPR was continued during the flight to the Royal Children’s Hospital,’ Mr Robertson said.
