Car wedged under semi on Ring Road

5 Nov 2009

A woman has been injured in a collision on the Metropolitan Ring Road at Thomastown this morning.

Advanced life support paramedics from Thomastown and Preston, intensive care paramedics from Campbellfield, a single responder intensive care paramedic and a paramedic team manager were called to the Ring Road near Mahoneys Road just before nine o’clock.

Paramedic team manager Ron McLeod says a woman was hurt when her car ran into the back of a semi trailer.

‘The car hit the back of the semi trailer, and ended up wedged under it right up to the car’s windscreen,’ he said.

‘The 38 year-old woman who was driving has some neck and back pain.

‘As a precaution, advanced life support paramedics put a neck brace on her and strapped her to a spineboard.

‘She was given some pain relief through an inhaler.

‘The woman was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition,’ Mr McLeod said.
