To support the work of Adult Retrieval Victoria (ARV) within Ambulance Victoria (AV) and to grow the capability of the service, applications are invited for a number of Retrieval Consultants positions (part time and casual). Reporting to the Medical Director, the primary objective of the position is to provide for the safe and effective acute inter hospital transfer of critically ill patients from the receiving hospital to the destination hospital.

Successful applicants will be legally qualified medical practitioners registered in Victoria, possessing appropriate medical qualifications or currently completing examinations in these disciplines (i.e. MBBS or equivalent, FACEM, FANZCA, FRACP or equivalent). Previous experience in the field of medical retrieval is preferred.

ARV is developing as an innovative and progressive service and seeks capable staff to assume these positions of responsibility and leadership. With the recent merge of rural and metropolitan ambulance services, the commissioning of increased retrieval aeromedical platforms, and major changes to our processes, the future of retrieval in Victoria is an exciting example of the best interaction of people, technology and well designed systems – all delivering better patient care and outcomes.
